Gone Fishin'

Hello! I am so excited to share this card! I combined two amazing companies' products. I used the Rainbow Slider Die Set created by Julie Ebersole for Ellen Hutson to create the interactive bridge for the adorable little boy. The die is meant to create a rainbow that when you pull the pull tab, it slides to make a rainbow. Genius, I know! I fell in love with it the moment that I saw it and wondered if I could use it for other design ideas.

When Hello Bluebird stamp company released the Fishin' Hole stamp and coordinating die sets I just knew what had to be done.  Make a log bridge for the little boy to sit upon!  I also added some more fish images and an additional cattail from Otter Friends from Hello Bluebird as well.  (I love it when stamp companies create sets that mix and match seamlessly!)

I stamped the images on Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock using Lawn Fawn's Jet Black Ink because it is alcohol ink friendly.  I then colored my images with Copic Markers and die cut them with the coordinating dies.

I used the Rainbow Slider Die Set to die cut two of the pieces used to build the slider mechanism from Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I die cut the "rainbow" piece from Neenah cardstock to color with Copic markers later.  I also die cut some grass pieces using the Grassy Knoll die set from Hello Bluebird from Lawn Fawn Cilantro cardstock.  To add depth and additional coloring to the scene pieces, I sponged on Distress Oxide Inks.  (I used Lucky Clover for the grass and Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Faded Jeans for the water.)  I then took the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil by My Favorite Things and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to make my cloudy sky.

I used Copic Markers to color the "rainbow" piece of cardstock to look like logs.  See how fun it is when you pull the slider mechanism?!  I hid some cute little fish under the bridge.  That way, when the recipient pulls the slider there is another fun surprise!  See how the cute little cat is trying to bat at the fishing line?  I also attached one of the dragon fly images to the littler fisherman's hat with a small strip of acetate to make it look like it is flying and so that it moves along with the bridge piece.

For the sentiment, I used "Hope your day is reel-y great!" from the Fish'in Hole stamp set using Lawn Fawn's new clear embossing ink and Lawn Fawn's white embossing powder.  If you haven't tried their white embossing powder, you really should!  It is bright white and embosses even small sentiments amazingly crisp!

I hope that my card has inspired you to look at your dies a little differently.  Just because something is named or sold for a particular purpose doesn't mean that it can't be repurposed for something else. 😉  Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!
