Lawn Fawn December Blog Post: Happy Mail

It is the first Saturday in December and I am up on the Lawn Fawn blog today with a fun interactive card! I have made so many holiday themed cards lately that I wanted to make something more springy feeling. It could double as a Valentine's Day card for someone special too.  I even sneaked in a fun new interactive die that will be released this month with the new Valentine release on this card. (Don't worry. I asked Kelly Marie and she said it was absolutely fine to sneak peek it for you guys. Haha!) Are you ready to see it? Here we go!

If you have followed me for any time on Instagram, then you know my love for mixing and matching stamp and die sets to create fun scene cards. This one is no exception. I used images from the following stamp sets: Gleeful Garden, Bugs and Kisses, Fairy Friends, Rub-a-dub-dub, Easter Party, Love Letters, You Are Sublime, Toadally Awesome, and Village Shops. I stamped all of my images and colored them in with Copic markers.

I wanted to make this card interactive as a fun twist. When you pull on the pull tab to the left of the front panel, the adorable little hummingbird pulls the mail out of the mailbox. Isn't that neat?!

The die set that makes this possible is actually a coordinating add-on set to a new stamp set that is being released this month as part of the Valetine release also. (You are going to love it!) I like to think of different ways to use my stash, and this slider mechanism has so many possibilities.

For the inside of my card, I thought it would be fun to make a gift card holder and continue the garden theme there as well. I used the Gift Card Pop-Up Die to create the holder and covered the front with a grass border and more cute images that coordinate with the front. I added a sweet sentiment to finish off the inside of my card and just love how the whole thing turned out!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that my card has inspired you to look at your dies a little differently and has peaked your interest and excitement over the new amazing products that Lawn Fawn is releasing this month. The design team has been working diligently on creating some amazing samples for you and you are not going to want to miss Inspiration Week headed your way December 7 - 13, 2018. Please visit the Lawn Fawn blog for a complete list of products that I used and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

  1. This is a really beautiful card Megan! The little hummingbird getting the mail out of the mailbox is such a fun interactive part as is the pop up gift card element inside! I love that you've mixed so many different stamp sets (in love with the little snails)! Thank you for sharing this beauty - your cards are so inspiring ❤

  2. I absolutely love this card! I love seeing what sets you used, and trying to figure out which images are in each set. :) I would love to know more about your process of designing a card, and how you go about combining sets. I usually only combine 2-3 sets, but I love how you combine more. When I saw the slider mechanism, it looked a lot like parts of the double slider surprise set. Can't wait to see all the new goodies!

    1. Thank you for your comment and kind words, Lynette! I usually have a general idea of what I want to put on my cards, but they evolve as the process goes on. As I start I placing images on the card to get placement, I decide which ones I will use. I hadn't initially planned on using the little duck but I felt like I needed a pop of yellow down towards the bottom. Same idea with the small purple flowers and dragonfly. I felt like the card needed a little purple to round out the color scheme. The mechanism is intended as an add on for a set that is being released next week as well, but it is very versatile. With a little tweaking, it can be used for so many other images as well.
