Heffy Friend Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to the Heffy Friends Blog Hop! Today we are celebrating the Heffy Doodle July 2020 release with lots of inspiration and a giveaway, too!

Thank you for joining me today! I am so excited to be a part of the August Heffy Friend Blog Hop! I have created a slimline card to share with you featuring new products from the July Release.

When I saw the You Go, Gull and A Little Shellfish Stamp Sets, I fell in love! (Who could resist these adorable beach inspired critters?!) I just had to create a scene using them together and I love how it turned out!

To begin, I stamped my images using a hybrid ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I then die cut them using the coordinating dies. To adhere my images, I used a combination of glue dots, liquid glue, and foam tape.

I then die cut three rectangles using the largest die in the Stitched Slimline Trio Dies from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I saved one rectangle for the main panel, die cut the waves from the second rectangle, and then die cut the sandy beach piece from the third. I used Antique Linen, Scattered Straw, and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Inks to create the sand. I diluted vintage photo, Copic White, and some gold metallic watercolor paint and flicked them onto add some beautiful texture. For the ocean pieces, I ink blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink and flicked on diluted Faded Jeans Ink.

For the main panel, I wanted to create a sunrise. To do this, I die cut a circle from a piece of Post It Tape and used the negative portion to mask off the sun section. I used Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Inks. I blended them using the lightest color in the center and blending the darker color around the edges to create depth and roundness.  I removed the mask and blended the same colors to both sides of the sun. I then used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean to add a touch of blue at the top. To give the illusion of rays of light, I used a sun ray stencil and swiped on white pigment ink over the top.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I encourage you to hop along with us today. You don't want to miss the incredible projects that the designers have to share. There is so much amazing inspiration along the way!

  24. What a fabulous scene, and I love how you went really primary with your colors. When I try to do that, it looks like a weird kindergarten art class, but yours looks very cohesive. Plus, all the little texture details take this over the top. So great!
